I’d bought The Hotel Avacado at the airport without realising it was sequel. Quick Google recommended Casa del Libro to buy English print books – took ages to find the store once we arrived at La Canada shopping centre (it’s upstairs) but once we arrived, two ladies couldn’t have been more helpful in locating the prequel I was looking for, Satsuma Complex. Excellent service, gracias!

The service (one woman) is not professional, I ordered 3 books for school, I showed the photo of those books before and I waited 2weeks to receive them… At the end two books was totally wrong order. This is loosing time of customer! And say (- I’m sorry) is not enough.

Olga Budzinskaya

I really appreciate Costa Drive school for the supportive and friendly learning environment during this challenging process. All theory was submitted in very understandable way even on the foreign language. I can just advise to pass theoretical exam in Spanish. Of course, it’s challenging at the beginning but Sergey explains it very clearly and step by step it’s more understandable than English google translation on the exam. Thank Costa Drive school for their competence guidance through this process!

Lovely experience of preparation for the driving exam! Took 2 months face-to-face group course (Russian <-> Spanish) and passed the theory exam from the first attempt! They also have Russian <-> English exam preparation course (as far as I know). Also online and self-learning formats are available. Totally recommended if you need the theoretical preparation for exam!

I highly recommend **Autoescuela Costa del Sol – Elviria** to any expat looking to obtain a Spanish driver’s license. Having driven for years in Canada and the USA, I needed to adapt to local regulations, and the team here was excellent. They provide a comprehensive, full-service experience that covers everything from the theory to the practical exam. Javier and Sandra are incredibly professional and accommodating. Javier, as a teacher, was perfect at focusing on the specific, essential elements of driving in Spain that experienced drivers from North America need to know. I was extremely happy with my experience. Theory classes were well structured with ample time to examine complex questions in detail. Regarding practical lessons I found that, even as an experienced driver it was vital to concentrate on the often challenging circumstances encountered in Marbella. The corrections made by my instructor not only saw me pass on the first attempt but have made me a safer and better driver. Thanks to all at the staff at Autoescuela Costa del Sol.

I highly recommend Autoescuela Driving School Costa Del Sol in Elviria, Marbella. Moving to Spain with a US driver’s license can be a complicated and stressful process, but they made everything much easier for me. All the classes are taught in English, which helped a lot, and they took care of the entire process—from scheduling the medical check to organizing both the theory and practical exams. They also made sure I was fully prepared at every stage. I had heard negative experiences about other schools, such as instructors arriving late or not showing up, but that was never an issue here. The team was always professional, punctual, and very communicative. They set clear expectations from the beginning and delivered on everything they promised. Thanks to their support, I passed both exams and received my Spanish driver’s license this week. If you are an expat going through the Spanish licensing process, I definitely recommend them!

Fnac in Marbella offers a diverse selection of media, including books, vinyl, and electronics. While the store provides varied inventory, there are notable inconsistencies regarding the efficiency of their order fulfillment and logistical processing systems.

The shopping experience varies significantly depending on the department. While some staff members provide exceptional assistance with administrative tasks, others may struggle with professional communication. Visitors might find the pricing structures for certain items to be relatively high.

A while back I fave this store a 5 star review, as it was in line with my experiences. Not anymore, unfortunately! They somehow marked my order as “picked up at the store” even though I wasn’t in Spain when it was delivered to the store! Not to mention it was supposed to be available for pickup “within two hours”, not over a week later. I reached out to them several times to get a cancellation and refund, to no avail… I wouldn’t buy from them anymore, unless absolutely necessary (or they have a very good deal).

Redhead sales lady with glasses is so rude, only wanted to return earbuds and said we can’t because it was unsanitary and compared them to “returning underwear” not the same, didn’t even want to explain calmly to my father and gave attitude to him, I asked if it was broken, could it possibly be returned but only got “esta roto entonces?” with a tone as a response. I love shopping there for books etc but I probably won’t ever buy electronics there “head staff” lady.

I was today to Fnac at La Cañada to return a Starlink I bought. When I bought I thought instead of ordering it on Amazon or from Starlink I should support my local shop. When I purchase it a specifically asked the sales person if they where a Starlink authorised dealer, and he told me they where. He also told me I can try it for 30days. Now when I come back to claim a return for my Starlink that I bought with in the 30 days. They refused to return it. Claiming they are not Starlink dealer and they have there own return policy of 7 days. After asking to speak to the working manager, I try to explain the situation that it doesn’t work for my house and that according to the promise sales person when I bought it say that I can try for 30 days. The lady manger that I spoke to was rude and did not wanted to hear anything other than voice of her self speak. I have bought a lot of things for my self and for my company true Fnac. But it is the last time I set my fot in this shop. Would not recommend it at all. This store needs new management. And also a clear communication what they sell or not. Next time order on line at least you can return if you have problems.

I cannot recommend Marbella Tutors highly enough—especially Bob for Science and Miriam for Spanish. Since January, my daughter has been receiving IGCSE tuition from both as part of a homeschooling programme, and the transformation has been fantastic. Not only has she made tremendous academic progress, but she actually looks forward to her lessons—something we never thought possible. Their sessions have brought back her confidence and curiosity in a way that’s truly heartwarming. Bob and Miriam are both exceptionally gifted educators. They each bring a rare combination of deep subject knowledge, patience, and a genuine passion for teaching that creates an engaging and supportive learning environment. Their ability to connect with students and make learning enjoyable is truly something special. I also have to mention Lisa, who runs Marbella Tutors—she has been absolutely fantastic. Incredibly helpful, warm, and accommodating, Lisa goes above and beyond to ensure everything runs smoothly and that each student is matched with the right tutor. Her commitment to excellence and her personal touch really set Marbella Tutors apart. We feel so fortunate to have found this team, and I wouldn’t hesitate for a moment to recommend them to any family looking for exceptional tutoring support

I had a wonderful experience studying Spanish at Enforex Marbella. The school is located in a beautiful, modern building just a few minutes from the beach, which creates an inspiring and relaxing learning atmosphere. The classes are dynamic, the groups are small, and the teachers are not only professional but also truly passionate about helping each student improve. What stood out to me most was the warm, welcoming environment created by the entire team — and especially by the school’s director, Marisa. She is kind, approachable, and always attentive to the needs of the students. Her personal involvement and positive energy make a big difference and set the tone for the whole school. I would highly recommend Enforex Marbella to anyone looking for high-quality Spanish lessons in a friendly, supportive environment by the sea.

(For the full review, check out the screenshots in the photos) Overall, my experience with Enforex left a lot to be desired and I was faced with unprofessionalism, mismanagement, and downright neglect. The Marbella residence was an improvement upon the Barcelona residence. There weren’t many students throughout the month reducing the noise level and all the facilities were working which seemed like a literal miracle. I appreciated how there were name tags on the doors which allowed me to get to know my neighbours better. The biggest drawback was that there was no AC which was especially brutal in June. Finding and entering the apartment itself was quite difficult as I had to pick up the keys a kilometer away at some random lodge. I was promised instructions on how to enter the residence but was not provided this. I couldn’t figure out where to go in the actual business complex which was extensive. When I called the emergency number, they were unhelpful as it was a remote worker in Madrid and they had no idea how to navigate either. I will say that I had to switch rooms. The first room was very small and not necessarily secure as it shared the balcony with my neighbour. When I opened the terrace doors, it exposed my room to my neighbour. While this may be fine during the day, it’s not that safe overnight, especially since students don’t have to do a background check. There was also a killer bee on the terrace to contend with (though the property manager did spray for them the next day after). Because of the minimal square footage and lack of AC, this apartment is also not worth €1300 a month. Luckily, I was moved to a larger room which was more spacious. There were lingering issues though, mainly the smell of smoke, which leaked through the vents and likely took off a few years of my life. The school itself was how I expected Enforex to be: generally professional and well-organized. Unlike Barcelona which had the same three teachers throughout the month, the teachers fluctuated depending on the week. Some of the teachers didn’t come to class prepared with the worksheets and had to leave mid-way through the class to print them out but they were all more punctual than in Barcelona with less wasted time. It was thoughtful to include coffee and tea (for 50 cents) during the break to create a sense of student community. The manager, Marisa, was more proactive than anyone in Barcelona and helped to address my concerns. She said she would help resolve my lingering issues and concerns about the Barcelona residence with the residence coordinator, Edu, and Enforex program director. They have yet to get back to me; I have been waiting for over a month for anyone at the school to reach out to me. This is a clear indication of the level of unprofessionalism at this institution as they are perfectly fine with leaving client issues unresolved (they haven’t even reached out to me on a preliminary basis saying they’re looking into it more). Marisa stated that the reason for a slow response was because the school was busy with their summer school program. This reads as a thinly-veiled excuse because I brought up my issues before the incoming cohort even arrived so they had time to help me but chose not to. All in all, Enforex was generally disappointing, especially the residences. Their brochure and website are straight up false advertising which promise a 100% satisfaction guarantee for which they have fallen incredibly flat. Working with Enforex and using their services is incredibly frustrating and unjust. They consistently break promises and rules they set out and supposedly enforce but obviously do not. They have consistently proven that they don’t have the ability or capacity to ensure a safe, enriching environment, nullifying their own contract and neglecting their students. The lack of management and standards is abhorrent and continuing to turn a blind eye is unprofessional, unsafe, and non-compliant.

Most language programs tend to focus on younger students, and MISS excels in this regard. As an older learner, however, I was seeking an opportunity to strengthen my Spanish speaking and listening skills for both professional and personal use. My first week studying with Mirabel was an absolute pleasure, and I have returned for the past two years to continue improving my Spanish. She tailors each session to my interests, builds confidence through engaging conversation, and enriches the learning experience with insights into both local and national culture. Every class is enjoyable, stimulating, and highly informative. I look forward to returning again next year. Howard Armitage (Canada)

I can highly recommend Miss Languages, as my experience there has been outstanding. The classes are wonderfully structured and taught by truly dedicated teachers who adapt to your individual level, explain everything clearly in English when needed, and create a relaxed atmosphere in small groups. I joined an intensive beginner course with some prior knowledge on very short notice, and thanks to Maribel’s flexibility and kindness I was able to integrate immediately and feel completely comfortable. The school is easy to reach in the heart of Marbella, the environment is warm and welcoming, and the learning atmosphere is one of the best I’ve experienced. After several weeks I’ve made noticeable progress, and I’m genuinely happy I chose this school, which I recommend to anyone in the Málaga–Marbella area who wants to improve their Spanish quickly and effectively.

I have been to many language schools, but this is the best one by far. Located conveniently downtown, parking garage 2 mins, excellent teachers. Highly recommend their intensive classes if you really want to learn Spanish.

I have completed just 2 months of intensive course at MISS Languages but the wealth of information I have acquired surpasses years of classes I had in school. Sofia is quite a talented teacher with a sense of humor that makes every class with her fun. I love her methodology of teaching which has helped me to speak with more confidence. (Which is exactly what I was looking for) Not only have my speaking skills improved, I have also gained extensive knowledge about the Spanish culture, the unwritten rules, the dos and don’ts, insider tips on what’s hot or not, among other things. I had an amazing time at the school and will definitely be back in autumn. Thank you MISS Marbella Team. Besos Irene

Les Roches Marbella offers a specialized environment for those seeking to enter the luxury hospitality sector. While the institution provides a structured path toward professional growth, some aspects of the academic program may feel less aligned with the expected high-end standards of the curriculum.

The campus emphasizes professional development through various projects and community initiatives. However, the overall educational experience presents a mixed balance between its ambitious goals and the practical quality of service delivered to the students.

It only has been a couple of months since the start of my journey with Les Roche, I have joined the ambassador program and it has been a blast! Being able to meet and connect with more then just peers, but with people that are like family. The school offers many different things, but the ambassador program is truly one of the best!

Les Roches Marbella was a major disappointment for me. The program feels more like paying for a lifestyle than pursuing a real education. Classes are short—around three hours per day—and the academic standards are extremely low. There is very little intellectual challenge, yet tuition costs €30,000 per year, which feels completely disproportionate to what you actually receive. Retaking exams requires paying the full price again, which shows that revenue is clearly prioritized over student learning. While the school promotes diversity and inclusivity in its marketing, the reality on campus is very different. Prestige, lifestyle, and networking are sold more than academic rigor. If you are looking for a serious, demanding education with real value, this is not the place to go.

As a student at Les Roches Marbella, I’ve had an amazing experience that has truly shaped my career in hospitality. The professors, who are industry professionals, bring real-world insight into the classroom, making our learning dynamic and impactful. The curriculum offers a perfect blend of theory and hands-on training, greatly enhancing our skills. I’ve also had the pleasure of meeting classmates from diverse backgrounds, enriching my perspective and teamwork abilities. The campus is good and provides a great environment for both learning and relaxation. Overall, Les Roches Marbella is not just an educational institution but a launchpad for success in the hospitality industry. I recommend it to anyone pursuing this field!

Les Roches Marbella has been one of my life’s best decisions and experiences. I’m currently on BBA3 and I’ve had the opportunity to travel, meet new people, immerse myself in the hospitality industry, and become part of the amazing community of Les Roches. I’ve had the opportunity to join the Ambassadors team and the SGA (Student Government Association), which has widened my world.

Bookworld Puerto Banús offers a curated selection of literature and stationery in Marbella. The shop provides a pleasant environment for browsing, featuring a variety of titles and a steady supply of greeting cards. The staff is known for being helpful and can assist in ordering specific books upon request.

While the atmosphere is welcoming, some inconsistencies regarding pricing accuracy have been noted. Maintaining clear communication on costs remains an area for improvement. Despite these minor issues, it remains a functional destination for local readers.

I stumbled upon this bookstore accidentally and I’m so glad I did. I love that there’s a wide selection of books and well curated! I will definitely be back! The owner was also very lovely. Wish this bookstore all the best! 🫶🏼

I really liked Bookworld – the shop has a great selection and a lovely atmosphere. It’s the kind of place you want to spend time browsing, and I was genuinely excited to buy something. However, I was quite disappointed by the pricing policy. The book I picked up had a price tag, but when I went to pay, it turned out to be around 3 euros more expensive. When I asked why, the response was simply, “That’s the old price.” I didn’t return the book because I truly want to read it, but I found that answer pretty poor, to be honest. If prices have changed, the tags should be updated so customers know exactly what they’re paying. I felt a bit misled – especially after checking online and seeing that the price on the tag matched what’s still listed there. It left me with a sour taste after what could have been a really positive experience.

Great selection of books, super friendly owners. If it’s not there, they are able to order the book you are looking for. If you wander in not knowing what to read, you’ll definitely walk back out with more than one recommendation. They also have some revision guides, an impressive collection of games and coffee table books for such a tiny shop, cards and an incredible selection of children’s and YA books. I love this shop. Well worth a visit whenever I’m in the area

I have been a customer of this shop for a very long time, and I have always spent a lot of money in there on my children’s English books every time I have been in. However I will never be setting foot in there ever again. The owner did not like my children looking at the books they wanted to buy and proceeded to follow us around on the prowl. I ended up again buying about 6 more books, as I had promised my children. However it was the last time. They should not sell children’s books if they don’t like children, and in my opinion this shop has had its day. This is why we found the old man owner to be grumpy, very rude, arrogant and off hand. We saw he was trying to teach his daughter the ropes at the till, but to be honest this shop is very overpriced, and living in Marbella you can easily order over Amazon for next to nothing and not pay inflated prices! So a big thumbs down from me, and a good customer lost for him. I will take my money elsewhere! Wouldn’t be surprised if it closes down soon..

Frequently asked questions about english language academies in Marbella

What is a language academy and are they worth it?

A language academy is an educational institution specifically designed to teach students how to communicate in a foreign language. These schools are widely considered worth the investment because they provide immersive environments, structured curricula, and professional guidance that can accelerate fluency faster than self-study. When evaluating them, consider the school's teaching methodology and the quality of their certified instructors.

How much does it cost to study English programs?

The cost of English programs varies significantly depending on the duration of the course, the intensity of the lessons, and the specific level of study. Fees generally depend on whether you are choosing a short-term intensive program or a long-term academic certificate. It is advisable to compare different academy fee structures to find a package that fits your specific learning goals and budget.

Is learning a language or getting a degree worth it?

Learning a new language is highly beneficial as it enhances cognitive abilities, opens up international career opportunities, and improves communication skills. Similarly, pursuing a degree in a language can provide a deep academic foundation and specialized credentials that are valuable in many global industries. The value of these pursuits often depends on how well you integrate the skills into your personal or professional life.
